Donna & Her Kits Well, Little Donna wasn't doing well with her
children. She had 5 kits on the 15th and by the
17th only 3 of those kits were being fed. I took
two away and gave them to Gracie in hopes that
Donna would have enough milk to keep the other 3
alive and fat. Then early this morning around 1 am
(3 days after giving birth) another one of her
children was severly dehydrated and his skeleton
was visible. He was lethargic. I flipped her over
onto her back and made her nurse them but around
4:00am this morning when I checked everyone the
other two were also not looking great and
everyone was cold. So, I took a chance and gave
Gracie the rest of the kits --she is still
nursing those 9 kits. The skeletol one that I
thought was going to die is no longer wrinkly and
dehydrated. Looks to me like his skeleton is
barely visible. Two of them dont have the fat kit
belly but that may take a couple of days. I will
be VERY happy with Gracie if she can pull this
off. She only had 4 of her own and so far has
kept 5 extra kits alive and hydrated. I'm very
proud of her;) I dont care how good a doe looks
or how much money someone will pay for her --
she's worth her weight in gold if she can not
only raise her own children but another mothers
also!
I rebred Donna to Stefan tonight. Let's all cross
our fingers that she gets it right next time.
Hey, at least she didn't hurt them.
