Donna & Her Kits
Well, Little Donna wasn't doing well with her
children. She had 5 kits on the 15th and by the
17th only 3 of those kits were being fed. I took
two away and gave them to Gracie in hopes that
Donna would have enough milk to keep the other 3
alive and fat. Then early this morning around 1 am
(3 days after giving birth) another one of her
children was severly dehydrated and his skeleton
was visible. He was lethargic. I flipped her over
onto her back and made her nurse them but around
4:00am this morning when I checked everyone the
other two were also not looking great and
everyone was cold. So, I took a chance and gave
Gracie the rest of the kits --she is still
nursing those 9 kits. The skeletol one that I
thought was going to die is no longer wrinkly and
dehydrated. Looks to me like his skeleton is
barely visible. Two of them dont have the fat kit
belly but that may take a couple of days. I will
be VERY happy with Gracie if she can pull this
off. She only had 4 of her own and so far has
kept 5 extra kits alive and hydrated. I'm very
proud of her;) I dont care how good a doe looks
or how much money someone will pay for her --
she's worth her weight in gold if she can not
only raise her own children but another mothers
also!
I rebred Donna to Stefan tonight. Let's all cross
our fingers that she gets it right next time.
Hey, at least she didn't hurt them.

Back from Ohio
I've been back from Ohio for 2 weeks tomorrow but
it feels like I just got back yesterday. I
finally got everything back to the way I like it
to be. I was very pleased with the care my
husband gave my bunnies while I was gone. I
didn't ask him to clean cages because I wanted
him to only concentrate on keeping them well fed
and watered. Well, he did a great job! I found
dishes filled to the top with pellets (oh God)
and water bottles full. Everyone seemed happy;)
Galaxy didn't want to have anything to do with
me ... there is something about my husband that
makes any female pet I have turn against me after
just a few days with him. Last time this happened
it was with my cockatiel - she and I never
recovered from that.
Anyway, the drive to Ohio wasn't too bad. 13
hours and 45 minutes. The drive back was only 11
1/2 hours. I guess you can tell I was a little
anxious to get home and I MAY have driven a
little too fast. lol.
I met a lot of great people, learned a bunch of
great things and had a great mini vacation. I
came back with some great rabbits too. Thanks to
all of the breeders who helped me pick out good
rabbits!

Lionhead Nationals
It's the night before I leave for Lionhead
Nationals held in Columbus Ohio and I am REALLY
freaked out. I hope I can stay awake and drive
the 11 1/2 hours straight through. I bought tons
of cappaciano, red bull and power bars.
I'm also very worried because I am trading one of
my does for a nicer buck to Jeremy & Becky
Armstrong. This is a big thing for me because
it's the first time I've sent one of my own
rabbits to someone who knows what they are doing.
lol. It's also the furthest an LLR rabbit has
gone. She doesn't look as good as I'd like her
too. I hope they arent too disappointed!
I'm picking up several nice rabbits that I hope
will improve my own lines. From Anita Landry from
Le Fleur de Lis Rabbitry in Louisiana I am
getting a tort buck named Eugene, and a tort doe
named Isabella Rose. From Patsy at Seneca Pride
Rabbitry in Salmanica NY I'm getting a sable
point doe named SP's Roman Isis and from Jeremy &
Becky Armstrong of Mossy Possum Farms in Kansas
I'm getting a black buck named Cosmic. Also from
Anita White of White Wizzard Rabbitry in Indiana
I'm getting a teenie REW doe named Baby Girl.
With these new rabbits I can straighten out the
ones I have now.
Let's all pray HARD that the trip goes well and
that my rabbits dont get too stressed out over it.

OUR FIRST SHOW!!!
Lionheads Lair Rabbitry of Griswold, Ct. is
pleased to announce our first show and our first
win!
LLR's Galaxy kicked butt and took BOV and BOB
(non-recognized).
Galaxy is a 3rd generation LLR lionhead!
And what did you we do to the competition ... the
only ones to beat us you ask? ..(but only because
they were torts) ... oh those dreaded torts!
WE BROUGHT THEM HOME OF COURSE!
